The last few months have been all over the place. My girlfriend and I managed to break the bathroom mirror, by accident I might add, and we thought it wasn't going to get any worse than that. But the next night, on my way home from work, a car turned out in front of me, and there was a big bang. I was just expecting to stop and pull over, but suddenly the car went on it's side and rolled twice down the road. I jumped out of the cab with no injuries. Turned out I literally ran over the bonnet of the car, and it pushed me over. The car got written off and lost over $3000 or so in mechanical work which i had just gotten on top of.
So then came the time to wait for insurance. After seeking out some panel beaters to assess the old car, I got lend of an old 1988 XF Ford falcon ute. My girlfriend refused to sit in it, and I didn't blame her. The climate control, radio, dash lights, odometer and tail lights didn't work. The interior was ripped and torn, and there was no weather seal on the driver's door. Really sucked driving in the rain. About three weeks later, when a few mates and I put the car on a vehicle hoist at the Tafe college, we discovered the exhaust system was about to fall off. So,we came to a mutual decision. See if this old piece of Junk can do a burnout. It did, but it blew a radiator hose and the engine was leaking more oil than a Radial engine from a DC-3. Two days after I palmed the car back to the guy who I borrowed it from, Insurance finally came through ($11,000 for my old car. Not bad!)and time to get the new cruiser, a 1999 model. 79 series. Real nice to drive. Now it's just a matter of making it completely mine.
The problem with going through all that was money. Up until the accident I had completed all the repairs and I was on my way to saving money, but now I'm down on money and it's something which is now harder to accumulate. Maybe when I am in my third year of my apprenticeship it'll be easier.
The go kart still isn't done! Argh! I robbed the roll cage from a donor 1984 Honda Odyssey buggy and it fit quite nicely, gave it a padded bucket seat and a floor pan...But still haven't mounted the engine. Gah! Hopefully THIS weekend!
anyhoo, must flee.
mania.
